Overview

Dr. Lee Goldsmith’s rare combination of legal and medical education provides invaluable advantages in holding medical professionals responsible for negligence. He is licensed to practice medicine in New York and  is also certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. He has tried cases in New York, New Jersey and multiple other states in the United States, combining his knowledge of law and medicine.

Lee has been elected as a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine and also to the New York Academy of Medicine. He is past President of the American College of Legal Medicine and Board Certified in Legal Medicine. He is past President of the New Jersey Association for Justice, and currently a member of their Board of Governors. He is active in training young attorneys, having been an adjunct professor of law at the Fordham Law School. Currently, he is a Barrister in the Bergen County chapter of Inns of Court.

Throughout his career, Lee has written a comprehensive seven-volume set on medical malpractice and authored nearly 50 articles and books on law and medicine. He is a frequent speaker to both attorneys and physicians, and has covered a diverse range of topics over multiple years, including hospital liability, medical malpractice, HMOs, computer use risks, malpractice prevention, birth injuries, psychiatric malpractice, legal and ethical aspects in treatment, and more.

In addition, Lee sits on the Board of the Early Diagnosis and Treatment Foundation, whose work is focused on the early diagnosis of lung cancer, and the Board of the Hudson River Water Trail Association, whose work is focused on providing access to the Hudson River and the publication of a Hudson River water trail guide.

Every new client receives a kayak keychain reflecting Lee’s passion for the water. He has kayaked on the Mediterranean, among the Galápagos Islands and the coastal United States including Hawaii and Alaska.
