Porzio First-Year Associates Win Annual Mock Trial Competition for Second Consecutive Year

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. is pleased to congratulate first-year associates Phillip C. Bauknight and Raquel S. Lesnever for winning the 2009 Annual Morris County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Mock Trial Competition. Superior Court Judge Thomas Weisenbeck presided over the competition that was held on June 24 at the Morris County Courthouse in Morristown, New Jersey. Following their June 17 defeat of a Day Pitney team in the semi-final round, Mr. Bauknight and Ms. Lesnever advanced to the finals and were victorious over a skilled team of Schenck Price associates. The victory results in the second consecutive year of Porzio associates winning the competition.
In addition to complimenting Mr. Bauknight and Ms. Lesnever for their performance and preparedness, Judge Weisenbeck was also impressed by the team’s witnesses played by Porzio summer associates, Julius Redd, Okechi Ogbuokiri and Cindy Alvarado.
Mr. Bauknight, a member of the firm’s Trust & Estates and Pharmaceutical Marketing and Sales Compliance and Litigation practice areas, received his J.D. in 2008 from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark. Ms. Lesnever is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor practice area and also received her J.D. in 2008 from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark.
