Lauren E. Handler Named Best Lawyers' 2010 Newark Area Personal Injury Litigator of the Year

November 24, 2009

Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. is pleased to announce that Lauren E. Handler has been named by Best Lawyers in America as the “Newark Area Personal Injury Litigator of the Year” for 2010.  Ms. Handler, a principal of the firm, is the only lawyer in the Newark area to be honored with this recognition.  Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers.   Lawyers honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in Best Lawyers surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

Ms. Handler, a certified Civil Trial Attorney, focuses her practice in product liability representing major pharmaceutical and manufacturing company clients and, in personal injury litigation representing victims of catastrophic accidents and medical malpractice.  Her representation of both plaintiffs and defendants gives her a unique perspective on litigation that enables her to expect, meet and defeat the strategy and arguments of her opponents.

Ms. Handler is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated lawyer who has been recognized by Chambers USA Law Firm and Lawyers Directory in 2008 and 2009.  In 2008, The Trial Attorneys of New Jersey selected her for their coveted Trial Bar Award.  Annually since 2007, she has been named as a Super Lawyer, ranking among both the top 50 Female Lawyers and Top 100 Lawyers in New Jersey.

Ms. Handler serves numerous professional organizations, earning her place as the first female Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) in New Jersey, and selected by the ACTL to participate in its 2007 Canada-US Legal Exchange. She was formerly Chair of the ACTL Ethics Committee and currently serves as New Jersey State Chair.  She is an active member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in which she serves as an officer in the North Jersey Chapter; the Morris County Bar Association, which she served as President in 2000; and the New Jersey Bar Association, where she served for many years on the Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee.
