Porzio Supports 6th Annual Lawyers for Kids 5K to Benefit CASA and the Morris County Bar Foundation
July 09, 2010
Porzio, Bromberg & Newman employees came out in record numbers on July 9 to participate in the 6th Annual Lawyers for Kids 5K, in Morris Township. Forty Porzio employees were among the 550 participants in this year’s event, which included a 5K run, 2-mile walk, and kids’ fun run. Five Porzio employees won medals, including Patty McNicholas and Danielle Burke, who finished first in their respective age groups, Brian Blood, who finished third in his age group, and Frank Fazio and Bill Krais, who finished second and third among Morris County Bar Association members.
Porzio was one of the lead sponsors for this year’s event conducted by The Morris County Bar Foundation in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates (“CASA”) of Morris & Sussex Counties. CASA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. For almost 20 years, CASA volunteers have assisted over 2,500 children in Morris and Sussex counties to find save, loving homes, and to receive the services they need to meet the difficult challenges they face every day. Porzio is a long time supporter of CASA of Morris & Sussex Counties, with Lisa Bromberg currently serving on the Board of Directors, and Bill Krais previously serving on the board.
When serving both on the CASA board and as the Morris County Bar Association president in 2006, Bill Krais founded Lawyers for Kids 5K. As chair of the Lawyers for Kids 5K committee, which includes members from both the CASA community and the Morris County Bar Foundation, Bill has seen the event grow substantially. Thanks to the event’s many sponsors and participants, including Porzio, this year’s event grossed over $35,000 for this worthy cause.
