6/02/2025

Deirdre Wheatley-Liss, Principal in the Wealth Preservation Group at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), effective June 1, for a two-year term. NAELA is a national organization dedicated to improving the quality of legal services for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

A Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the ABA Accredited National Elder Law Foundation and widely respected in the field, Wheatley-Liss has held several leadership positions within NAELA, including Chair of the Tax Steering Committee and member of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Chapter. Her appointment to the national board reflects a continued commitment to advocacy, education, and advancing legal protections for vulnerable populations.

“This appointment is a natural extension of the work I’ve done throughout my career—advocating for those who often don’t have a voice,” said Wheatley-Liss. “I’m proud to contribute to NAELA’s national impact and support the next generation of elder law professionals.”

Wheatley-Liss counsels individuals, families, fiduciaries, and institutions on estate planning, long-term care, guardianships, and elder law matters. A frequent speaker and published author, she brings a thoughtful, client-focused perspective to elder and special needs law, grounded in decades of experience.
